TNT Landscaping — Lawn Drainage, Excavation, Grading, Trenching & Site Prep in New Hampshire and Surrounding Areas

Call (603) 374-8441 for a free on-site estimate.

New Hampshire yards take a beating. Spring snowmelt, summer storms, clay pockets, glacial till, and freeze-thaw cycles leave standing water, soggy turf, eroded slopes, and water against foundations. TNT Landscaping designs and installs drainage and earthwork that actually works in the Granite State — for homes and commercial properties.

We handle residential and commercial excavation, grading, trenching, site prep, and lawn drainage as one coordinated job so water leaves the property instead of sitting on it.

Why New Hampshire Properties Need Professional Drainage and Grading

Poor drainage is one of the most common reasons lawns fail, driveways settle, and basements stay damp. Typical signs on NH properties:

  • Water sitting in the yard 24–48 hours after rain or snowmelt
  • Soft, muddy areas that never firm up
  • Grass dying in low spots while the rest of the lawn is fine
  • Water running toward the house instead of away from it
  • Erosion along slopes, driveways, or retaining walls
  • Mosquitoes and that swampy smell after every storm

Surface grading alone sometimes fixes it. Many sites need a combination of regrading, French drains, drain tile, rock drains, swales, and properly sloped trenches. We look at soil, slope, frost depth, downspouts, and where water is allowed to discharge before we dig.

Lawn Drainage Solutions

French drains
A sloped trench, filter fabric, perforated pipe, and clean stone that intercepts groundwater and surface water and carries it to a safe outlet. Common along foundations, at the base of slopes, and through chronically wet lawns.

Drain tile / weeping tile
Perforated pipe installed below grade around foundations, under driveways, or across large lots. Used when you need perimeter protection or to keep a crawl space or basement dry.

Rock drains and decorative stone drainage
Visible or semi-visible stone systems that move water and still look finished. Useful where you want function plus a cleaner appearance.

Swales and surface channels
Shallow, graded channels that move water across the yard without burying pipe. Often paired with grading so the whole site sheds water correctly.

Downspout and gutter tie-ins
Roof water is a major source of yard flooding. We extend or bury downspout lines so they don’t dump next to the foundation or in the middle of the lawn.

Every system is sloped for positive flow, wrapped to reduce silt, and finished so the lawn or landscape can be restored.

Excavation, Grading, Trenching & Site Prep

Drainage only works if the ground is shaped correctly and the trenches are cut to the right depth and pitch.

Residential and commercial excavation
We excavate for drainage systems, new lawn areas, shed or garage pads, additions, and utility work. Equipment is sized to the site so we don’t tear up more than necessary.

Grading
Finish grade that pitches away from buildings (typically a minimum 2% slope in the first 10 feet where the site allows). We correct low spots, rebuild crowns on driveways and roads, and prepare beds for sod or seed. Grading is often the cheapest long-term drainage fix.

Trenching
Clean, accurate trenches for drainage pipe, utilities, irrigation, or electrical. Depth and slope are set so the pipe stays self-cleaning and frost issues are minimized.

Site prep
Clearing, rough grade, compaction, and finish grade so the next phase — lawn, hardscape, or building — starts on a stable, well-drained base. Commercial lots and new residential builds both get the same attention to water flow.

These services are frequently combined: excavate and trench for the drain, grade the surrounding yard, restore the surface.
